Ho Chi Minh City: The largest city in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City is the central hub of Vietnamese modern culture. Once the capital of Southern Vietnam, its fall in 1975 remains the most important moment in the country’s history.
Hue: A heavily damaged and rebuilt city, Hue hosted many of the 82nd Airborne in their active combat days. It served as a central flashpoint for many of the battles between Northern Viet Cong forces and Southern ARVN forces.
Da Nang: Boasting the nicest beaches in Vietnam, Da Nang was once a port city that American GI’s would use for in-country R&R visits, a time to escape and decompress from the horrors of the war.
Guam: As the closest U.S. territory to Vietnam, Guam was where non-citizen GI’s were sent to become legal citizens of the United States. George himself was kept here for 3 days while taking U.S. citizenship exams.
